(Corporate volunteering - the path to a healthier society)
Statement of the problem and the rationale for the project:
Wards in orphanages and homes for the elderly receive poor individual attention and little warmth, and need in the first place personal friends who come to them not as duty, but by love. Only vigorous and cheerful volunteers may make the people excluded by family and life circumstances believe that they are an integral part of society, that they are needed and loved.
In social institutions there is often not enough hands to bring the premises and surrounding area in an appropriate form and provided funds are not sufficient to decorate the place in a nice and cozy, homely manner. A volunteer teams with a dozen pairs of strong hands and brought materials (paint, seedlings, plants, furniture, garden tools) solves these problems.
Corporate volunteer teams are useful not only as the provision of priority assistance to social institutions, but also have the opportunity to become the connecting thread between generations. This contributes to the maintenance of generally accepted ethical-moral standards, education and active citizenship.
Corporate volunteer programs promote team spirit, leadership skills and decision-making at the company, as well as promote a corporate culture and strengthen the reputation of the firm.
Recipients of charity care:
Social institutions and social organizations of Moscow, the Moscow and other regions helping vulnerable groups (veterans, invalids, families with many children) and people who are in difficult situations, orphanages and nursing homes of Moscow and other regions
The aim of the project:
- The involvement of volunteer teams (corporate volunteers) in community service activities to address pressing social problems.
- The promotion of social activism and involvement in charitable activities of citizens. The attraction of resources of commercial organizations to solve social problems.
Project Objectives:
- Organization of corporate teams to provide volunteer assistance to social institutions (landscaping, upkeeping of premises).
- The organization of charity concerts, meetings, celebrations for the wards by the employees.
- Coordination of volunteer activities of individual employees.
- Corporate collection of clothing for the needy.
- Organization of voluntary donations of employees of organizations at the work place (a box for donations in the organization).
- Promoting the emergence of chief-sponsors for the social institutions as a result of direct contact with clients during the volunteer activities.
- Involvement of the general public in charitable activities through corporate volunteering.
Resources of Charitable Foundation Sofia:
- Two years experience in the field of corporate volunteerism to business organizations: the club Solyanka (the organization of holidays for the orphanages, patronage over the Ilyinsky boarding school), the restaurant Niyama (participated in birthday celebrations at boarding school number 8); TC Tramplin (provided space for classes of children with disabilities), personal development seminars in Moscow (volunteer teams to nursing homes).
- Availability of a database of beneficiaries needing help.
